TECHNIQUE
On a Micro Four Thirds camera, a 100–400 mm lens functions like a 400–800 mm lens on a full-frame system, making it ideal for capturing birds and wildlife from a distance with impressive magnification. Due to this high magnification, stability is crucial.Fortunately, many Micro Four Thirds cameras feature IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization) and sometimes electronic stabilization (E-stabilization). These technologies help reduce camera shake during handheld shooting, especially when photographing still subjects.
However, additional support is still recommended:
Use a monopod with a gimbal head for flexible tracking of moving animals, a tripod with a ball head for stable compositions, or a fluid video head for smooth motion in video recording.
Combined, the powerful zoom, built-in stabilization, and proper support result in sharp, stable images—even at long distances.
